Resonances with Robert Rocheteau

An artist in contemporary classical music, percussionist Robert Rocheteau is known for diverse and engaging performances. Robert is an in-demand artist based in the Greater Baltimore/Washington D.C. area who performs with artists from across the globe. Recent highlights include performances in Washington D.C. at the Fête de la Musique Festival at the French Embassy, the Sound Scene Festival at the Hirschorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and performances at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Robert is a founding member of the Pierrot plus Percussion Ensemble The Victory Players, the ensemble-in-residence to the historic Victory Theatre in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The ensemble prides itself in being a diverse new voice in contemporary classical music that reaches a broad range of audiences. The Victory Players recorded their debut album in 2021 titled El Puerto Rico. The album was also video recorded for use on TV and radio broadcasts by New England Public Media. The Victory Players commission new music, present masterclasses, and perform outreach concerts throughout the United States.

Robert holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory, University of Maryland College Park, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His teachers were Robert van Sice, Ayano Kataoka, Jon Bisesi, Jauvon Gilliam, Shaun Tilburg, and Thomas Hannum.

The Marimba takes center stage as Robert Rocheteau and the Philharmonic String Quartet perform classic works alongside underperformed gems. The program includes one of Beethoven’s epic string quartets. The music sparkles in the intimate sanctuary of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Michael Romans

Violin

Hailing from Springfield, Virginia, Michael began studying violin and viola at the age of 10 under the instruction of former Louisville Orchestra violist, James Batts. Michael Romans earned his Doctorate in Violin Performance at the University of Michigan where he served as a Graduate Student Instructor under the guidance of Fabiola Kim and Danielle Belen.

Celaya Kirchner

Violin

Celaya Kirchner is an extremely well sought after freelance musician in the DC metro area, regularly performing with many of the region's orchestras. She is the Principal 2nd of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, section violin in the Fairfax Symphony & Apollo Orchestra, and frequent substitute violin in the Maryland Symphony, Allentown Symphony, as well as the New Orchestra of Washington.

Julia Clancy

SSG Julia Clancy joined The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in 2024 after serving as acting section violist in the San Diego Symphony. Prior to this appointment, she performed as a regular substitute in the Nashville Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, and Dallas Symphony.

Katie McCarthy

Katie McCarthy is an active performer, educator, and arts advocate based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. As a multifaceted musical artist, you can find Ms. McCarthy in a range of spaces: performing with orchestras, chamber ensembles, recital series, solo performances, giving special attention to interpreting and performing the works of historically underrepresented composers, and participating in and leading community music activities and workshops.
